NEW DELHI: To cash the upcoming festive season in the sub-continent, State owned airlines “AIR INDIA” has come up with an attractive scheme to lure its customers. Air India, under its new scheme of Diwali festive season offered air bookings starting at Rs.1777 in the domestic network.
The Diwali Dhamaka offer, will be available to the Indian customers till November 7th and the bookings under this scheme are valid for travel between January 15th to April 15th, 2016. As per the latest inputs, Air India has reported an increased traffic after the announcement of the offer.
Air India on its website said, “Diwali is one of the most celebrated festivals in India irrespective of the religion. Children play with crackers and share the joy with others. This happiness can be increased with our new Diwali Dhamaka scheme. Under this scheme, travelers can book their flights to all the domestic destinations in India. Bookings are also valid on the domestic leg of the international flights”.
Air India’s domestic network covers more than 50 destinations including Andaman and Nicobar Islands to the Ladakh in Kashmir.
Last week SpiceJet has also announced a lucrative offer under which domestic fares were priced at Rs.749, while the international bookings were priced at Rs.3999 onward.
To withstand the competitive environment Indian Airlines have been coming up with new offers, almost every week which in turn decreased the prices drastically. Market analysts say that the move was aimed at targeting the middle class families who comprises the majority of the Indian population.
It sounds commercial in a broader point of view as majority of the Indians believe that traveling by air is an affair only for the rich. Therefore, airlines have been concentrating at bringing more number of passengers in order to drive air traffic, to decrease the heavy losses it has been facing in the recent times, the Ndtv reported.
