Amit, the longest serving chief of Google’s internet search business is set to retire. That is according to the information that the company provided on Wednesday.
Singhal is among the company’s pioneers. His position will be taken over by the leader in artificial intelligence. Google said that the move is an indication that the company has the target of making its search engine more sophisticated.
The 15 year Google veteran will be replaced by the current vice president of engineering, John Giannadrea. He leaves office on 26th of Feb 2016.
Via a blog post, Singhal said that he plans to spend 15 years giving back to the less fortunate. He joined the company in 2000, only two years after Sergey Brin and Larry Page found the Company.
Some of his achievements at Google include helping in the development of Adwords. The technology assists to search for ads, basing on the searches of the internet users. Adwords is among the biggest money earner for Google.
John joined Google in 2010. His appointment shows how important the Silicon Valley has viewed the technology in artificial intelligence.
On the blog post, Singhal wrote that Search is getting stronger on a daily basis as they continue to get new outstanding leaders who are used to the modern day’s show.
Analysts say that the inception of an artificial intelligence personnel to be the leader is a sign that the company desires to evolve in the search business. The future of search is expected to change. One can only wait to see what is going to come out of the company.
Giannandrea has also had an impact in the company since his entry in 2010. He has had a role in the image recognition technology. There is also the smart reply in Google’s inbox. In this tech, suggestions for automatic reply to email is provided.
Google’s stocks went down when Giannandrea announced that he would retire. Some analysts have been hesitant to cite that as a reason but there are also some that hold it could be a factor.
Google had its largest decline ever since the August decline. It closed down at $749.38 which is 4.03%.
