Becoming the first Indian premier League team owner to purchase a foreign team, Bollywood actor and the co-owner of the IPL team Kolkata Knight riders, Mr. Shahrukh khan has owned a team in the Carribean League. Shahrukh khan, has joined the Hollywood actors Mark Wahlberg and Gerard Butler to invest in the Carribean league.
The sports lover has brought the Carribean premier League team Trinidad and Tabago, which includes super stars like Sunil Narine, who has also featured for the Kolkata Knight riders in the Indian Premiere league. Mr. Khan has invested in the Carribean League along with Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta.
khan’s IPL team Kolkata Knight riders was adored by everyone in the Indian subcontinent. Given the potential of the players and the encouragement by Mr. Khan, KKR have lifted the IPL team twice under the leadership of the captain Gautam Gambhir.
Sports analysts feel that the glamour and fame of the Carribean League increases with the introduction of Shahrukh khan and other Hollywood stars. Among the Hollywood investors in the CPL, Wahlberg owns Barbados Tridents while, Butler has invested in Jamaica Tallawahs, led by Chris Gayle, the NDTV sports reports.
The third edition of the tournament is scheduled to be played between June 20 and July 26th of this year. Speaking over his entering into the CPL, Mr.Khan said, ” This will definitely show our commitments to the global vision of the game. We are thrilled to become a part of the cricketing tradition in Trinidad and Tobago”.
