You want a snazzy new sports car because, of course, you’ve earned it. She wants a SUV for hauling kids, dogs and groceries and she wants to look good doing it. Thanks to the new 2018 Lamborghini Urus you can both be happy.
Most likely, in spring of 2018, the Urus will be available in the United States. Unlike the first SUV put out by Lamborghini, the LM002 in 1994, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 650 horsepower and 627 pounds of torque Urus is gas friendly. It will go from 0 to 60 mph in just under four seconds with a top speed of 189 mph on a racetrack, a tradition among Lamborghini sports cars.
Race a SUV? This Lamborghini is equipped with ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligent Management) that allows you to drive in practically any terrain. Called the Tamburo, it resembles a thermos bottle on its side. On the left are the drive modes: street, sport, race, sand, gravel and snow. Places you never dreamed of taking a Lamborghini. The start button is in the middle framed by a red cover that would look more at home in an airplane. Rather than a common stick shift, there is a lever above the start button that when pulled back the car goes in reverse. The other side has customizable drive mode and the controls for suspension, steering, and chassis-adjustment from 6.2 inches to 9.8 inches ground clearance. The rear wheel drive makes for easy turning at high speeds as well as trying to get into that parking space that sits at an angle.
The interior is just what you would expect from a Lamborghini. The center panel has three touch screens: one for the interior controls, one to run your smartphone and one on the driver’s side that shows speed, gear, gas and the like with a built-in map and GPS finder. Two bucket seats in the front and a three seater bench in the back allows for five passengers and the hands-free hatch back is large enough for all your needs. There are many luxury options such as leather seats, leather-trimmed floor mats, and either a suede or soft leather heated steering wheel. The front seats are fully electric with air ventilation, heat, and a massage feature. Another entertainment screen is optional for the back seat passengers. Rear seat heating is a handy feature in cold climates. The sound is a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.
Hopping sand dunes off road in a Lamborghini? Absolutely! The car can be ordered with either 21 inch Pirelli Corsa tires or 23 inch Pirelli Scorpions for off-roading. The brake calipers are exposed through the wheels and come in six different colors. You can get a large sunroof and even heat and acoustic insulated windows. When most people are storing their sports cars for the winter, the URUS is still on the road able to tackle anything thrown at it.

The starting price will be about $200,000 but could quickly go up when adding all the great optional features. With most sport cars those who live in colder climates get only a few months to play with their cars and spending that kind of money isn’t very practical but no matter where you live the Lamborghini Urus is a 365 day great looking luxury vehicle – so go have fun or get the work done and you’ll look great doing it!
