NEW DELHI: Speaking at an event celebrating good governance day, Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced that the state-run MTNL will offer free roaming facility from January 1st, 2016. The implementation of the free roaming facility will allow MTNL users to receive calls at no extra charge, while traveling across the country.
MTNL is the subsidiary of BSNL, which provides telecom services in Mumbai and Delhi. BSNL has already had a free roaming scheme in place. At present, MTNL customers have to pay roaming charges when they travel outside Delhi and Mumbai.
