JAIPUR: Reliance group, led by Billionaire Anil Ambani has signed an MoU with the Rajasthan State Government to develop a solar park with an output capacity of 6000 MW. The project is expected to be completed by 2021.
Sources said that the Solar project, planned by the Rajasthan Government has the potential to attract an investment of Rs 60,000 crore.
Speaking at the Resurgent Rajasthan summit in Jaipur, Reliance group head Mr Anil Ambani said, ” We have signed an MoU with the Rajasthan Government to develop solar park and solar power projects of 6000 MW capacity spread over an estimated 30,000 acres and we intend to complete the project over the next six years”.
Recalling the Reliance investments in the State, Ambani said “Our firm has always been interested in the development of Rajasthan. We have already invested over Rs 7,000 crore across telecom, power generation, roads and financial sectors of the state. We are proud to be part of the Rajasthan development with yet another project”.
Reliance group is also one of the largest employers in the Rajasthan State providing an estimated 6,000 direct and about 25,000 indirect jobs through its business platforms in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan is expected to play an important role to achieve the Central Government’s ambition of developing solar power projects spread across India, with a total output capacity of 100,000 MW.
Reliance group will develop the solar power project in joint venture with the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation, which provides standard infrastructure to potential solar developers, the Economic Times reported.
