KOCHI: If you ever have been given a task to describe the heights of how unlucky a person can be, perhaps the story of the engineering student from Kerala may solve the purpose. Amal Augustine, a final year engineering student, had just lost the chance of making a fortune from the social networking firm Facebook !
The story goes as follows. Amal, had a passion for filing internet domain names and has possibly registered a domain “maxchanzuckerberg.org”, named after Maxime Chan Zuckerberg – the daughter of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
A few days back, Amal received a casual email from the internet domain registrar and web hosting company Godaddy, on whether he was willing to sell the domain name by the end of last month and for how much. Excited seeing his first customer on board the eager entrepreneur replied Yes and asked for a decent sum of $700.
But, when the mail came closing the deal, it was only then that the young Entrepreneur has realized that his customer was none other than the social networking firm Facebook. The mail was from Sara Chapel, the manager of Iconic capital, the firm which handles the financial deals of facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
“This had been my hobby for some time. I have registered quite a few domains and this particular domain name was registered when their baby was born last December”, said Amal who had realized that he has just lost a chance to make a fortune for him. “More than the money, am amused that Mark Zuckerberg had purchased something from me”.
