Volvo, the Swedish commercial vehicles manufacturing giant said that it was looking forward to export buses manufactured in India, to other European developed markets. It further added that it was considering India as a export hub for its company.
” We are planning to export the buses manufactured in India to other developed markets in Europe. We are preparing plans for the same and the manufacturing will take place soon”, the President of the Volvo Buses Hakan Agnevall said.
” we are looking to make China and India as the manufacturing hubs to cater the needs of the Global and domestic markets around. The first bus manufactured in India will be unveiled in Europe soon, at the end of this year”, he added.
The president made it clear that the company would gradually scale up the exports from India to cater the needs of the Global markets.
Volvo Buses Senior Vice President (Business Region International) Akash Passey said that the company was actively searching for the new markets to export its products from India. He also added that the company’s project was in line with the Central Government’s Make In India campaign, the Times of India reports.
Passey said that the company has been investing in the development of the Volvo manufacturing units since 2011. Presently, the company’s plant in Hoskote manufactures 1500 buses.
