TEXAS: A 31-year-old man in the US has been sentenced for suffocating his two-year-old daughter who interrupted him while playing a computer game.
Michael Sanders was charged in December with capital murder for the death of his daughter Ellie Sanders in Texas, US.
He is accused that he suffocated her while carrying the two (Ellie and her five-year-old brother).
Investigators believe enraged Sanders bruised Ellie all over her body, bit her on her back and murdered her by holding her down with his hand over her face, police officials said.
Babcock, police officers, was quoted saying that “He was very involved in computer gaming… That is something he did constantly. She may have interrupted him somehow. His day may have been interrupted.”
Earlier this month, the Tarrant County medical examiners ruled that the death of the infant was a homicide.
The arrest affidavit stated that sanders’ wife went to an art show and left the children under the care of her husband.
The boy discovered his sister in a bedroom and “tried to wake her up and she would not wake up”, Mr Babcock said.
After doctors found fresh injuries in the infant, the detectives suspected foul play. Bruises were found around the eyes, two adult bite marks at the back of her neck and blood behind her ear.
The investigators said that Sanders was unable to explain the injuries and that he said he had changed the diaper of Ellie before his wife came in.
