Finally, Google has added a feature to search and maps that people have requested for years. Google announced that its users will now be able to know whether a business is open during a certain festive season. On another note, Google also updated its Calendar app to include the ‘Trash’ feature.
You have probably visited a place only to discover that it is closed due to a national or local holiday. Google claims that it is aware of this issue, hence why it will now allow people searching for a place on Google Maps or Google Search to know if that place will be open in the next seven days or on an upcoming holiday – a feature called ‘holiday hours.’
In a blog post, the company wrote that they have added holiday hours to Google Maps and Search. Therefore when you are searching for a business and a major holiday is coming up in the next seven days, you will be able to see if the business has a specific holiday schedule. This will prevent you showing up only to find locked doors, and will save you time by not having to check the website for hours or call the business.
For the businesses that have not specified their holiday schedules, Google will alert users that the upcoming holiday could affect the opening and closing hours of a business. Users will also be able to filter results to show only places that are open during a certain period. Google claims that the holiday hours feature will be available worldwide and on both desktop and mobile devices.
