Things are really getting hot in India entertainment industry after the Reliance industry announced that it will form a collaboration with Friday Filmworks to a new Bollywood production namely Plan C studios. This can be interpreted as a significant step towards the growth of Bollywood industry. Many entertainment fans in India are already excited about the announcement and are just waiting to for the Plan C movie release. The Reliance Group managing director, Amitabh Jhunjhunwala, when releasing his statement said that the collaboration aims at partnering with like-minded and successful business individuals while they continue with the role of supportive investors. That has been the company’s strategy in the entertainment and media business.
Though no financial related to the venture have been given, Plan C has already laid strategies even of the to-be released movie. They plan to start with the Rustom which is a historical drama starred by the renowned actor Akshay Kumar and directed by Tinu Suresh. Another new company’s movie on the lineup includes Ghalib Danger that would be directed by Pandey and other projects from other directors including Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, Shivam Nair, Anvita Dutt, Anurag Singh and and Shree Narayan Singh. These shows that the company has kicked off on a high note and that will contribute a lot to the success of Bollywood.
However, the collaboration between the Reliance and Filmworks is not unheard of since Anil Ambani Reliance ADAG group entered an alliance with DreamWorks, Entertainment One and Jeff Skoll’s Participant Media to form Amblin Partners. The association between the Reliance and Dreamworks has existed now for the last 7 years when they invested $325million in Dreamworks company. Talking about Dreamworks, you have probably watched several of their hit movies 2008 terrorism thriller A Wednesday, heist drama Special 26 all starred by Kumar and directed by Pandey. Moreover, Reliance co-operation features Phantom films founded and directed by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena.
In addition to all the partnerships, the Reliance has been known to have international coproductions such as Ingenious, Deepak Nayar and the upcoming Viceroy’s House directed by Gurinder Chadha and backed by BBC Films. Also it was just in January when the company announced its coproduction with nOmber One Indo-French mountaineering drama with its director being Serge Hazanavicius. The indo-French nOmber One revolves between a father and his son. Can you remember Michel, the director of the Oscar winning film The Artist? He is a blood brother to Hazanavicius. Other than Serge Hazanavicius, Alexis Galmot, Mary-Noelle Dana and Stephane Dan were involved in the writing of the script. The starring is Adam who is also known for Les Nouvelles Aventures d’Aladin and Les Profs 2 french films. Other than directing, Hazanavicius is also known to have starred films such as OSS 117, George Clooney’s The Monuments Men and Lost in Rio directed by his brother Michel. More so, Stephane Dan is well known been consulted for over a hundred films that involve board sports and skiing. Seems like 2016 is going to be a great year for all movie lovers especially for Bollywood fans.
