Although tofu may not be your food of choice, it is the star of a gaming app that is well worth downloading right now.
So why would you want to play with tofu? Well, firstly, the game called To-Fu Fury is on offer in the App Store as the free came of the week (it usually costs $1.99), as well as for free on Amazon.
Other than the fact that it’s free, To-Fu Fury is entertaining in its own right. Published by Amazon Game Studios, To-Fu Fury allows players to channel their inner Kill Bill as they control a ninja piece of tofu. This mobile game falls into the puzzle category where your little tofu ninja has to navigate an obstacle course gathering orbs to make it to the giant purple fortune cookie to complete the stage.
The box-shaped tofu is cute and squishy – as well as sticky – so the gamer can fling, ping and walk it along the course as it jumps and clings from wall to wall.
The graphics are admirable in these Asian environments that set the mood, including the Mahjong-like music. Each stage course is creatively distinctive, featuring enemies, obstacles, rotating wheels, wooden boards and spikes. There are also boss fights so you get your kung fu on. Each stage is fast-paced, and begins easy so you can master the basics as it becomes more and more challenging.
In order to control your tofu ninja (who even comes dressed with a customizable wardrobe and red karate headband), simply press your finger on the ninja, and drag in the direction you wish it to move. This will make To-Fu ninja jump across to the point you lead it to until you make your next move. The To-Fu- Fury ninja can also fling across obstacles, just like Angry Birds, by dragging downwards and letting go once you make your aim. To show the trajectory, a green line will appear.
