The subject of death is never something people want to talk about often, nevertheless, it is a matter that concerns all of us. I think however that it is safe to assume that like every other person it the world, you want to live a very long and healthy life. If this is so, then you should at least know what the word ‘life expectancy’ refers to. 1. Are you a heavy Smoker:
Well, I guess smokers would have seen this coming from the start of the write-up? The reason heavy smoking reduces the chance that you will live up to the life expectancy should be obvious. But just in case you do not know, let me quote some shocking statistics for you. A recent research has shown that about half of all chronic smokers will die for reasons connected with heavy tobacco consumption. Another study also found that every eight seconds, someone somewhere dies because of tobacco, this adds up to 5 million tobacco-related deaths annually.
2. How fast do you drive?
If tobacco doesn’t kill you, what else can? You guessed right! Reckless driving. This is one major cause people die at a young age, at an age much lesser than life expectancy in most cases. In fact, the exact number of Yearly deaths due to road crashes is about 1.3 million, according to the Association for Safe International Road Travels. This means approximately 3287 people are expected to die due to road accident today! It is also important to mention that more than half of such deaths occur amongst young people between the ages 15 and 44.
3. When was your last medical check up?
It is amazing how many people go on living for years, even decades without seeing the need for a comprehensive medical checkup. You will be surprised to realize how many people die from ailments that could have been easily treated if only they were discovered sooner.
4. Do you have safe sex?
With all the media hype about safe sex and the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, so many people still engaged in unsafe sex. Millions of people die annually from preventable sexually transmitted diseases. I guess you might want to ponder on that for a moment before your next night out with the boys/girls.
5. Are you happy?
It is the most important things that are often overlooked. More people probably die from inside out that those who die from accidents and other external causes. Research has shown over and over again how effective it is for someone to want to die so much that their body starts conforming to that wish.
Are you unhappy, lonely, afraid or simply tired of your life? These things are more likely than others to kill you before you reach your country’s life expectancy. You ought to guide your happiness jealously and protect it with all you got.
