European food safety authority said that consuming more amount of Caffeine in injurious to health. In its report, it opined that people intake more amount of caffeine due to the lack of knowledge of the caffeine sources.
EFSA reported that excessive intake of Caffeine may cause heart problems, insomnia and panic attacks.
People in the modern world have been habituated to the excessive intake of Caffeine in the day to day life. Caffeine sources include Tea, coffee,energy drinks, soft drinks and chocolates.
It reported after a survey that, 400mg a day of Caffeine in a healthy adult did not show any ill effects. This is in line with the directives in many countries including the US over the caffeine drug.
The ESPA reports, the main issues are the insomnia and heart attacks which are said to increase high risks. Insomnia, may effect the overall mental attitude of the person. It is estimated that 20 percent of the overall European Population consume excessive amount of Caffeine, the BBC News reports.
The ESPA warned the pregnant ladies and stated that they should not consume more than 200 mg of Caffeine a day due to the growing foetus. However, it said that there was no proper data for the limitations of caffeine consumption in the case of the children.
It advised that 3 mg of Caffeine can be taken, with every kilogram the child weighs.
