We spend most of our time making an outreach to educate people on the importance of taking vegetables in large quantities. A misbelief spreading like bush fire, is causing more harm to our kids. Parents feel much comfortable to put them on beef every time, forgetting vegetables completely. Cucumbers and celeries are totally disregarded. Most parents are overwhelmed with feelings that they are of no nutritional value. Just a piece of a reminder to such individuals, they should understand how wrong they are and how much they have wasted. The fact that these vegetables are full of water does not imply that they are useless. They have essential nutrients in them, which we all need to exploit. The Center for Disease Prevention and Control says, depending on age and activity, children should feed on one to three cups of vegetables per day. According to statistics taken, nine out of ten children in America are denied this treatment. The truth is, all vegetables are important and have nutritional benefits attached. Here is a list of vegetables that people have repugnance for and misbeliefs, hindering their consumption.
People think it is just a cheap meal intended to make our stomachs full. Cabbage is classified under the cruciferous family, together with kales, broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. Cabbage contains vitamin C that helps to boost immunity, fiber for proper food digestion, vitamin K for healthy cardiovascular activities and it also gives a general feel of satisfaction.
A mistaken belief that it contains too much sugar. Or else, I was happy since many were informed on carrots improving our eyesight. The major ingredient playing a role in vision enhancement is vitamin A. It also contains vitamin C to improve on the immune system. Well I must agree that carrots contain sugar, but this sugar slows down the absorption rate. Therefore, not much of it is even engrossed in blood.
We consider it unhealthy for it has a lot of fructose. I too avert excess sugar and can’t welcome any association with sugary foods. But when it comes to corn, I always give a second thought. Yes, corn is full of carbohydrate which your child gets from many food types. But, did you know that corn contains thiamine? Thiamine forms part of the building blocks in the DNA. The same thiamine understands that excess carbohydrate might be calamitous to the body and it therefore emanates as a solution. It helps convert carbohydrate into energy. If your children engages in extra activities, then it is prudent that as a parent, you should consider putting them on corn.
Cucumbers, these are nothing but water! Surely, this myth must be detached with immediate effect. Honestly, let your children get enough cucumber, then witness how healthy they become. Cucumber provides antioxidants such as beta carotene and vitamin C. These two ingredients plays a major role in the development of strong immunity. I cannot forget to mention potassium for a healthy heart and vitamin B for vigorous nervous system. All these can be obtained in cucumbers. Just imagine!
Very nice food, hindered by a myth that it is full of flavor but not healthful. In some horror movies, it is a weapon to scare away witches and vampires and not actually considered nutritious. This vegetable can lessen hypertension, fight cancer, regulate blood sugar levels and protect the heart.
These and many other vegetable which are not mentioned here, are of great necessity to provide good health and vigor to our children.
