They state the find will “rewrite history” as it shows that ancient mariners visited the New World long before the great explorer.
A Roman sword, Gold Carthage coins, a legionnaire’s whistle, a Roman head sculpture and part of a Roman shield were found on an island in Canada.
Jovan Hutton Pulitzer, lead historian, believes the haul is strong evidence that Ancient Romans were first to land there and is the sole most important discovery ever for the Americas.
It is still unclear how ancient Romans could have made the journey across the Atlantic Ocean; however, according to the Ancient Artifact Preservation Society (AAPS), the haul was found in a shipwreck off Oak Island in Canada.
Mr. Pulitzer stated that the ceremonial sword is totally confirmed as ancient Roman.
He added the he started his forensic work into it using an XRF analyzer – which is a top archaeological tool for analyzing metals. They also found all these other metals that inform you that this was made from ore that came directly from the ground. The ancient Roman sword has the same lead and arsenic signature on it and they’ve been able to test this sword against another like it and it matches.
Mr. Pulitzer maintains that the shipwreck from which the sword was uncovered years ago is definitely ancient Roman.
Pulitzer’s team also found ancient burial mounds in shallow water on the island dating back to less than 200 years after Christ. Professor James Scherz from the University of Wisconsin stated that these mounds are consistent with ancient Levant and ancient European burial mounds, not native American. In looking at the known ocean levels for the area, these mounds give a likely date of happening between 1500BC and 180AD.
In addition to the graves, the experts also discovered carved stones on Oak Island that have a language from the ancient Levant.
Some historians dismissed the findings as inaccurate, maintaining that the artifacts were just dropped by collectors in modern times.
Mainstream history says that Columbus was the first non-indigenous person to arrive in North America when he landed in the Bahamas in 1492.
But, over the years numerous radical theories have come out that the Polynesians, Chinese and Vikings arrived before Columbus.
