We continue from where we left off in part 3 in our series of True Conspiracies in the US. Our countdown is nearing to the top and the momentum is building as we learn about things that no one would believe they are true the first time they were mentioned.
6. Government-initiated Terror Attacks to begin a War with Cuba
During the Cold War error, nuclear missiles in Russia were relocated to Cuba which led to increased panic in the United States. However, the US lacked a legal basis that they could use to send troops to the island nation. The US Army therefore worked with the political leaders to come up with a plan that would entice the Americans to want to wage war. Operation Northwood was the name of the plan. The White House occupant at that time was John Kennedy who was sane enough to turn down the signing of the proposal.
After the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the government tried to calm down the public by making several documents unclassified. Operation Northwood was among them.
5. Nazis Harbored by the U.S. After World War II
Nazi Germany carried out gruesome experiments that would later on make their scientists to be declared war criminals. As much as these people were inhumane, they gathered unique information. Operation paperclip was started in 1945 by President Truman. The purpose was to gather German intelligence and then use it to advance the American technological and medicine fields. It involved stuff such as locating the Nazi scientists that survived the war and bring them to the US.
The Jewish community as well as the USSR protested against the program but were calmed down when Truman said that only innocent Germans would be saved. Only those who were not members of the Nazi Party were to be admitted. 15 years later, it was realized that they erased the dark past of the scientists, who lived the rest of their lives in comfort.
4. U.S. Selling Weapons to Drug Dealers
ATF announced in 2011 that they sold guns to Mexican drug cartels so as to arrest the leaders of the gang in the U.S. the statement came at a time when speculation was on the rise concerning the manner in which the gang would get military grade. The ATF came up with Operation Fast & Furious in which they would identify gang violence and then watch the final destination of the guns. The surprising factor is that Obama was not even aware of Fast & Furious until 2011, and this caused public outrage.
