In our final series of True Conspiracies in the US, we look at three last hot once-upon-a-time theories. We left off at Part 4 and will now finalize the remaining section of the series. Let us sail together all the way to the end.
- CIA-Financed Propaganda
Most regular people did not get to enjoy America as a land for the free. It has for a long time been suspected that the CIA tries to determine news outlets using several illegal tactics. However, the CIA blackmailing or bribing the journalists has for a long time been viewed to be just another theory, until 1977. In that year, the Rolling Stone magazine published a story in which they revealed a lump sum paid by the agency to distinguished Pulitzer Prize winners to work for them. Some provided the pathway for communicating with CIA spies, others provided Intel while some published untrue stories.
2. Poisoned Alcohol to Enforce Prohibition
It is common knowledge that Prohibition failed hugely. The rates of alcohol increased and crime was so high. However, it was not easy to convince people to outlaw drinking – most Americans could predict the likely problems. Therefore, in order to influence the decision of the public and turn their minds around, govt agents were tasked to contaminate alcohol with deadly poisons.
More than 700 people died as a result of drinking and the govt said that alcohol was to be blamed for the govt. the scandal caused boycotts and protests at alcohol. Of course, a few years later the protests to end prohibition were much larger. When it was finally repealed, the resulting nationwide celebration could only be compared to the kind that happened at the end of World War I.
- Assassination of Martin Luther King
The Civil Rights movement leader was assassinated on April 4th 1968 while in his hotel room. The govt blamed James Earl Ray for planning and executing the murder. Of course some people were aware of the truth from the beginning.
After a series of civil trial, it emerged that ray was just a hired killer. US govt officials and the mob had put together the plan. No further arrests have been made because no individual has been indicated to have taken part in the plot. However, there is one clear thing, the whole thing would not be successful had the govt not been involved in the plans.
