DELHI: As per the current statistics of the Human Population, India could become the World’s most populous country by 2050. The current estimated population of India stands at 127,42,39,769 growing at a rate of 1.6 percent a year.
As per the reports released by the National Population Stabilization Fund (NPSF), the Indian population accounts for 17.25 percent of the World population. The current pace in the population growth could place India above China, as the most populous country in the World, in a few years.
National Population Stabilization Fund (NPSF), which is an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Health, raised its concerns over the increasing growth rate. An official from the fund said that India’s population is growing at a rate more than that of China. China ranks first, being the most populous country with an estimated 1.36 billion population.
Speaking at a function today, Health Minister J.P.Nadda expressed his concerns over the stabilization of the population growth. He said that the developmental organisations and NGOs must work in harmony with the Government to ensure the stabilization of the population growth in India.
The survey has also revealed that high percentage of women were being married under 18 years of age in the states of Rajasthan, Bihar and Jharkhand, The Times of India reports.
India’s current population is equal to that of the other countries populations combined. For instance, the current population of India is equal to the populations of the USA, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Japan put together.
