TANAGAR: 15 laborers have been killed as a result of a massive landslide which occurred due to incessant rains that have hit a labour camp in Tawang district, Arunachal Pradesh.
The deputy commissioner said that the incessant happened at 3am on Friday at a time when 17 laborers were constructing in the camp.
“So far nine bodies have been extricated from the debris,” Gambo said, adding incessant rain for the past couple of days had triggered landslides in several places of the border district.
Mr. Gambo added that the rescue is ongoing and two JCBs have been brought onboard so as to clear the debris.
The PWD road that has been sandwiched by government higher secondary school and New Lebrang has been closed. It is reported that residential buildings have been destroyed.
Flood-like situation has been experienced in the area due to recent heavy rains.
