A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) gets you ready for a job as a nurse. Nurses holding a BSN are generally highly regarded and are given supervisory roles, more responsibilities and of course higher salaries.
The average time required to study a BSN is four years including liberal arts courses which fulfill general education requirements and classes specific to your major in nursing.

George Washington University
The George Washington University or what many refer to as GWU is a private research institution of higher learning established in Washington, D.C. It has two campuses – Mount Vernon campus and Virginia Science & Technology campus. This University has roots in the life of George Washington, America’s first president, since he wrote numerous letters to the Congress stating that it was his wish to establish a university within the nation’s capital. His desire was also reflected in his last will.
On 9th February 1821, the Columbian College in the District of Columbia was established. This was later on changed to the George Washington University in 1904 to honor Washington.
GWU is an accredited institution, having been accredited by Middle States Commission on Higher Education and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Its BSN program runs for 15 months and costs $55,386. It targets persons that hold a degree in another field and would like to make a career change. As explained on its website, GWU equips “graduates… with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed (for)… high ethical, legal, and professional values.”
2. University Of Central Florida
The University Of Central Florida is the 2nd largest after Arizona University. This University was founded in the year 1963 .It is situated in FL, Universal Studios, Orlando and to Disney World. According to U.S News and the World report of 2016, The University of Central Florida is one of the best in innovation. The University has very many computer labs and lounges. All these facilities are to help better studies of the students. Central Florida University has invested and emphases on wellness and on health.
In The University of Central Florida students can easily find a lifetime relationship on activities that they may be passionate for. This is due to availability of hundreds of clubs which are different; making it a social university. UCF offers the following as housing options; Greek housing, residence halls and the apartment style.
The University Of Central Florida has a nursing program with a leading simulation applications and a modeling of cutting edge .These are available to assist the students in learning. The university’s NCLEX has a very high pass rate of about 97%.
The University Of Central Florida accelerated BSN starts in summer at Orlando campus .It takes four semesters. Applicants must have 3.0 GPA, TEAS exam and eight prerequites. It has 57-65 credits required for program.
In-state is $212 and out state is $748 per unit
3. LaSalle University
The LaSalle University is a Christian based private university owned by the Catholic Church. It is located in Philadelphia, PA. It is not just a local institution of higher learning because LaSalle University has international campuses that offer global collaboration in education.
The Accelerated RN to BSN program offers a chance to boost up one’s critical thinking skills, increase one’s esteem as a professional and also encounter personal and professional growth.
The institution is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). You will need to commit yourself for 13 months of which you will pay $23,000 for the nursing courses. The total cost will be dictated by the transferred credits.
The students are encouraged to apply for financial aid and as explained on the website, LaSalle University explains they “understand that for many, financial aid can make or break their decision on where to go to college. True to our Lasallian values, we’re dedicated to supporting students and families who aren’t able to pay full tuition.” There is the Office of Financial Aid that collaborates with students so as to finance their education through loans, grants, and scholarship as well as work study programs.
4. North Eastern University
NU is a private research institution of higher learning located in Boston, Massachusetts. It was established in 1898 and has grown to fall under the R1 institution (Doctoral Universities: Highest Research Activity). This university’s main campus offers both the graduate and undergraduate programs. It also has satellite campuses in Charlotte, North Carolina, Seattle, Washington, and Silicon Valley, California which offer only graduate degrees. As at the moment, the university has an enrollment of 7,000 graduate students and 18,000 undergraduate students.
North Eastern University has a study abroad program that students from all over the world to coordinate and brainstorm. In 2011, the university opened the George J. The total time taken by the 67 credit hour program is 16 consecutive months with tuition being $950 per credit hour.
5. Valdosta State University
VSU is a public university established on a 168-acre land in the city in Valdosta. The university has an enrollment of more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students who represent all the 50 states and 157 Georgia counties. The degree levels that are offered include Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Education Specialist, and Doctoral. The Graduate School comprises of Divisions of Social Work and Library Science.
Valdosta State University’s nursing program has been accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education while the university itself is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is designed to attract students who need a second degree. It runs for 15 months at a cost of $14,324 for the in state students. The out of state students pay $40,116. In order to ensure affordability of the degree program, students are awarded financial aid.
6. Villanova University (VU)
It was founded in 1842 by St. Augustine Catholic church with the goal of building culture that would make the students be able to learn and think critically, act compassionately and have success in serving others. It has a population of 10,000 students.
This is a well-known private research university found in Radnor Township, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia Township.
In northern region, Villanova was ranked as the best University in master’s.
Villanova college of Nursing refers no nursing as “healing ministry emanated by love and demonstrated through service and the care for others.”
This school is recognized as a center of excellence in nursing education by the national league for nursing. It has a full-time faculty with 82% doctoral degree and a population of 716 undergraduate students.
In VU, accelerated BSN is known as BSNExpress. The program takes 14 months to be completed. Annually, the program kicks off in May and ends in August of the following year.
VU also offer alternate sequence curriculum, a program that lasts for two years hence allowing students to have enough time to complete the program and get employed in a clinical setting.
7. Azusa Pacific University
In order to provide effective and compassionate healthcare, The Azusa University Nursing Pacific ensures that the students are well prepared.
One of the accredited program in this university is the Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree. It can be taken either part time or full time.
There are two BSN program option in which the program is offered: High Desert option (Two-plus-Two option) and Generic option.
In order to be admitted in Generic option, you have to meet the following requirements:
- Complete pre-requisite college level course work (with a minimum average of B)
- A one-page statement of career goal
- Have both high school and college transcript
- Recommendation letters
- Work experience resume in the past five years
- Clean criminal; background check
- Current CPR certification
For Two-plus-Two (High Desert) Program option (Transfer applicants), the following are the requirements to meet:
A 3.0 GPA for all college coursework and a minimum of 60 semester units. The applicant must also have health clearance which should be performed in the preceding 12 months and also meet the physical standard.
For spring admission, the application deadline is 30th September while for all admission, the deadline is set to be 31st January.
The Average NCLEX pass rate (3 years) is 82.68% with the average of 152 students tested annually.
8. University of Delaware (UD)
In 1966, UD department of Nursing was established. At present, UD School of Nursing is recognized as part of College of Health Sciences.
There are Multiple paths offered by the school for achieving degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This is done in order to accommodate the needs of students and the nursing profession.
As from 1994, UD College of Health Sciences has been offering the accelerated 2nd Degree program for students with a bachelor’s degree in a major other than nursing.
A full-time of study of 17 months is required in order to complete this 2nd degree. Applicants are also expected to have completed all prerequisites science within 10 years of applying to this ABSN program. This is in addition to a GPA of 3.0 or better.
It also takes a period of 4 years to complete a BS Degree major in Nursing.
The deadline of application is scheduled to be in every 1st April.
The average NCLEX pass rate (3 years) stands at 74.91% with the average of 29 students tested annually.
The prerequisite courses required are: Statistics, Human Development, Microbilogy with lab, anatomy and physiology (1 and 2) with lab.
The applicants should aslo expect to be interviewed by the Byers School of Nursing Admisssion Committee while foreign students are required to meet the requirements for the University admission pertaining to international student.
The admission for this program takes place annually only in May.
The average NCLEX pass rate is 98.44 with average 140 students tested.
9. Walsh University
In Walsh University, the nursing programs prepare student to enable them achieve their careers as nurses through strong academic programs.
The Bachelor of science in Nursing (BSN) option is equated to a 2nd degree program, the accelerated Nursing Degree track is free for those who are already in possession of a bachelor’s degree of any kind.
Accelerated BSN program in Walsh University is known to be accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
In order to accommodate the progress of tomorrow’s nurses, Walsh is making greater advance towards its BSN Nursing Degree Program.
You have to meet the following criteria to be admitted in BSN accelerated program in Walsh:
- A 3.0 GPA or higher
- You must have completed the prerequisite courses
- A minimum of 3.0 or better for the required prerequisite course work
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four years institution of higher learning
The current NCLEX pass rate for the Traditional Nursing School in Ohio is rated at 98.44%.
10. Creighton University
It has about 60 years since Creighton College of Nursing Started leading professionals of the next generation nurses.
In this college, students are offered bachelor’s, Masters and Doctorial Degree levels.
After admission, the student will need just one year from January to complete the program.
To be considered in admission process, you must have completed 11 prerequisites and also have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
The NCLEX pass rate in Creighton University is at 97%.
