In order to ease the pressure off the public to get some cash and to increase its customer base, Big Bazaar has announced that customers can withdraw up to Rs 2,000 using their ATM or debit cards with effective from November 24 at any of its Big Bazaar and fbb stores. This facility can be availed at over 258 Big Bazaar outlets across the country.
Sources said that Big Bazaar has been enabled to dispense Rs 2000 in cash to customers with the help of State Bank of India. Customers can withdraw money at the PoS machines on swiping their cards and entering the secret PIN.
Commenting on the facility, Mr.Kishore Biyani, Chairman of the Future Retail Limited said, “We have been trying very hard to ease the pressure on the Indian citizens after the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. With our new facility on board, customers are free to visit our stores and get some cash instead of queueing up at the banks and ATMs”.
The cash withdrawing facility at the stores will be subject to all the restrictions and regulations put forward by the Reserve Bank of India and the Indian government from time to time. As of now, a customer can withdraw a maximum of Rs 2000 from the stores, in parallel with the ATMs.
Earlier in the day, the Union government has announced that there will not be any transaction charges imposed on purchases made through debit cards till December 30, 2016. The decision seems to have been taken to boost the cashless digital transactions after demonetization.
