ISLAMABAD: Causing panic among the residents of the populous city of the Pakistan, an Earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale, has struck very close to the Islamabad as reported by the US Geographical survey(USGS).
Though the magnitude of the Earthquake was not high, it has to be noted that the epicenter of the Earthquake was just 16Kms away from Islamabad, the capital city of the Pakistan. The quake has struck at 01.59 AM on saturday and was very shallow with a intensity of only 26kms, the US Geographical survey said.
Though a minor quake, a magnitude of 5.1 is also capable of causing a considerable damage based on the location of the epicenter. There wasn’t any life and property damage as the quake has hit with a minor intensity. However, there would have been a considerable property damage had the epicenter appeared in the middle of the capital city, the Dna reports.
The situation in the South-east Asia appears to be awful with the Earth-quakes appearing every now and then followed by the gruesome Earthquake in Nepal, which has killed more than 5000 people and made several others homeless.
