CHANDIGARH: A day after a spat with the Haryana Health Minister Mr Anil Vij, SP of Fatehabad district, Sangeeta Rani Kalia was shunted out from her duties along with two other IPS officers. The move from the Haryana Government triggered negative reactions from the opposition and on social media.
An official statement released by the State Government said that the 2010-batck IPS Kalia, has been transferred and posted as Commandant 4th IRB at Manesar, relieving the existing officer Vikas Dhankar of additional charge.
The spat between the IPS and the Health Minister Anil Vij took place when Kalia refused to leave the district grievances and public relations committee meeting, on the order of the Health Minister. It followed a heated argument between the officer and minister, the video of which went viral on the social media.
Netizens and the opposition parties supported the woman IPS and demanded for the sacking of Health Minister for behaving in an ill-mannered way with the IPS officer.
It was reported that the argument started when an NGO approached the district grievances and public relations committee and complained the minister about the growing drug trafficking and liquor mafia in Ratia area. IPS Kalia replied to the NGO that the police were unable to control the liquor mafia due to the involvement of some Government officials in it. This triggered a heated spat between the minister and officer.
The officer claimed that some forces in the Government, backed the liquor mafia in Ratia, protecting them from Police.
On the other hand, the Health Minister declared that he will continue to fight against unworthy administrative employees who do not respect public and the politicians, elected by the public.
Kalia, has decided to go legally against her transfer and alleged the Government of supporting liquor mafia.
