German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that her country will let a comedian who mocked Turkish president be prosecuted.
She told the reporters that the court is the one that will decide about the matter. She added that Germany will have to amend a penal code section that makes it a criminal offense to insult foreign leaders.
Turkey had submitted a request to Germany that it be allowed to prosecute Jan Boehmermann for crudely mocking President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
It is not yet clear what will be the next legal action.
