GURGAON: A collaboration between the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon and Aditya Arya, a photography enthusiast will soon see the World’s largest Museum devoted to the history of Camera, the development of Photography and its art. The museum will exhibit famous photographs from photographers around the world, in addition to 600 to 700 camera models of 19th century.
Named as the ‘The Museo Camera – Centre of Photography’ – the planned museum is expected to be launched on August 19th, to coincide with World Photography Day.
“This is a great way to pay tribute to the eminent photographers. Their works will be exhibited in the museum with a brief history of the art and the photographer. We will also see different cameras exhibited in the museum. These cameras have been collected by me and i almost had every model of camera that has been developed, since its invention in the 19th century”, said Arya.
Arya had a growing collection of Cameras and photography works at his home, to which his residence seemed to be very small. Currently he has 700 models of Cameras, both brought and donated. The cameras collected are of all sizes, shapes and vintages. Not only this, Arya has acquired more than 600 patent prints during his travel around the globe and the prints of the same could be seen in the Museo Camera.
Vivek Kalia, joint commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon and also an eager supporter of the project said, “We have a very short time. It is really difficult to have the work done by August 19 launch date. But, the determination of Arya is what fuels our us to complete the work within time. We hope that the museum will bring fame to the country and to our city to a greater extent”.
Arya is confident that they can gradually develop the museum into a symbol of excellence and added that photography would be allowed inside the museum, unlike other museums around the globe.
