The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which has been entitled to conduct the second phase of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) to select meritorious candidates for various medical courses has released the Admit Cards for the eligible applicants, on its official website. As many as 4.7 lakh students have applied for the entrance test, which will be conducted at Examination Centers across the country on July, 24.
Candidates who have applied for the entrance test can download their Admit cards from here, by providing registration number and Date of Birth details.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has been forced to conduct NEET for the second time, due to various legal obligations and directives from the Honorable Supreme Court of India. The apex court has directed candidates who have not applied for the initial AIPMT entrance test (considered as NEET -I) to appear for the second phase of the entrance (dubbed as NEET -II) on July, 24. The court has also provided for the re-appearing of the candidates for NEET-II if they feel they haven’t done good in the initial AIPMT exam.
Though, the Union government had issued an ordinance over postponing the Common entrance test for the next year, the already scheduled second phase of the National entrance test will go ahead as recommended by the supreme court. However, the seat matrix will only involve the All India quota seats and the management quota seats of various colleges. The Supreme Court has made it mandatory to fill the management quota seats, only through the National entrance test and also, curbed the powers of various institutions to hold private entrance examinations.
The pattern of the NEET – II examination will be similar to that of the AIMPT (NEET -I), comprising of 180 multiple choice questions with an individual weightage of 45 questions from each of the subjects of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics.
