NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ranked ninth in the list of the most powerful global figures, compiled by the American business Magazine Forbes. PM Modi was ranked 15th in the list released last year by the Forbes.
The 2015 list of the most powerful global figures was once again topped by the Russian President Vladimir Putin as the German Chancellor Angela Merkel secured the second spot, climbing three places since the previous year.
The remarkable thing among the top five rankings in the list of the most powerful men was that of the US president Barack Obama, who slipped a place to the third rank while the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke into the top ten positions.
The top ranks were mostly dominated by the heads of the states. China President Xi Jinping stood fifth in the list apart from the British Prime Minister David Cameron, who was ranked at 8th.
Pope Francis and Microsoft’s Bill Gates were ranked fourth and sixth positions respectively in the list of the highly influencing men.
The biweekly American magazine Forbes said that it follows a typical process to evaluate the list of the most powerful men worldwide. The magazine explained that it considers hundreds of people from every sphere of life before compiling the final list, the Times of India reported.
Headquartered in Newyork city and founded by B.C.Forbes, the magazine ‘Forbes’ publishes articles on finance, marketing and investment topics.
