CHANDIGARH: Almost a year after Prime Minister Narendra Modi embraced the idea of ‘Selfie with daughter’, the former sarpanch of a village in Jind, Sunil Jaglan, the man behind the idea has officially rolled out a website with almost 10 lakh selfies stored online called as the ‘world’s first online museum of Selfies’.
The website got a good response just after few hours of its launch by the Haryana’s Health minister Mr Anil Vij. The Union ministry of Women and Child development too has shared its link online, which is aimed at bringing in a feeling of pride in every parent who is a father or mother of a daughter.
Last year, during the same month Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Jaglan’s thought and started a hashtag ‘Selfiewithdaughter’ on his twitter handle, which has popularized the event.
“The program was first launched in the village of Jing (in Haryana), to bring in feeling of pride among the parents for having a female child. It was a huge success as i still get pictures of parents with their daughter on my Whatsapp number. I have received more than 8000 selfies on my whatsapp number alone and these even included pictures of foreigners”, Jaglan said.
The website, stated as the online museum of Selfies will allow users to download personalized selfie prints as a memory (which were already uploaded by them). The website also had a feature which allows users to click pictures right from their smartphone or a webcam. The personalized pictures will contain the signatures of eminent personalities including Haryana’s Women boxers.
Sunil Jaglan is a social activist, engaged with the ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign.
