NOIDA: G Sai Krishna, a PG diploma student in facility management in the Amity University, has committed suicide on Friday afternoon by hanging himself with a ceiling fan, in the hostel premises. The 21-year-old student hails from Khammam district of Telangana state and has shifted to the Univesity Hostel six months ago.
The Noida police who reached the hostel after receiving information from the University management, have found a suicide note written in Telugu. Initially, the Police were unable to decode the message until the student’s family reached Noida and read the letter.
The student wrote, “They say that committing suicide is a coward act. But, it requires a lot of courage to do so. I feel sorry for my parents and friends for this act of mine. I thank my parents for being with me and supporting throughout my life”. The student has not provided any reasons for his death.
Noida police’s primary investigation found that the student has indulged in cricket betting activities and owes money to some unknown people. The student’s father Mr. Deendayal reddy confirmed that his son has confessed before him of owing money to other students to which he was scolded at home. However, the father noted that he did not share anything which could bring a serious threat to his life. Mr Deendayal Reddy was a lawyer at Khammam district and sessions court.
On the other hand, the Amity university management expressed distress over the unexpected incident. Savita Mehta, Vice-President at Amity Group said, ” This is a very unfortunate incident and we express our deep condolences to Krishna’s family members. He was a good student and has a good attendance too. We do not know why he has taken such an extreme step. The University management will extend all its support to the Police in the investigation”.
