Marking the occasion of Teacher’s day, India President Pranab Mukherjee has presented National awards to Teachers from across the country. The awards are presented every year to selected Teachers, for their work and dedication towards student development.
Speaking at the occasion, held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated the National Award winners and also expressed his gratitude to all the teachers across the country for taking part in shaping the country’s next generation intellectuals.
“More than ever before, today, we need inspired teachers to instill civilized values in our Children. Dedicated teachers are necessary to inculcate the values of sacrifice, tolerance, plurality, understanding and compassion in Children. The rapidly changing environment needs inspired teachers to carve the next generation right from their childhood. It is the greatest responsibility of the Teachers”, the President said.
“In my view an inspired teacher is an individual who is value-oriented, mission-driven, self-motivated and result-oriented. it is necessary that teachers try to develop new methodologies to teach children effectively, not compromising over skillful education”, he added.
The president has also expressed his dissatisfaction over the decrease of skill oriented education in the present day education system. He said that steps will be taken to train teachers professionally to suit the changing environment, the Business standard reported.
Every year September 5 is celebrated as Teachers day in honor of former President of India Dr.S Radhakrishnan.
