BEIJING: As per the inputs from the Chinese news agencies, two minor Earth quakes have hit parts of Tibet causing widespread fear among the locals. The magnitude of the two Earth quakes have been reported as 5.3 on Richter scale.
The Chinese authorities believe that no serious damage has been done, given the magnitude of the quake and the location of it from the Earth’s surface. However, a detailed damage assessment is yet to be carried and only then, the severity of the quake will be notified.
China’s Earth quake networks center said that the first quake has hit Dinggye County, Xigaze City at 9:48am followed by the second in Tingri county area at 10.05 am.
As reported by the official news agency of China, the Xinhua news, the epicenter of the first quake was monitored at 10 kilometers depth from the Earth’s surface whereas, for the second quake it was reported to be at 6 Kilometers depth from the surface.
Both the quakes were reported to be ‘shallow’ as their epicenters were monitored not too deep from the Earth’s surface. However, this will definitely alert the scientists across the globe who are watching the series of frequent Earth quakes in the recent past.
