A Spokesperson for the Swiss food group said, that the Food and Drugs administration of the United States has been testing samples of the Maggi. It is well known globally, that Nestle’s brand “Maggi” has been banned in India, following the presence of excessive lead and Mono sodium Glutamate (MSG).
A spokesperson from the Swiss food group has confirmed that the United States has also been cautioned on the same. The FDA officials of the US have already collected the samples of Maggi in this regard. The spokesperson said, ” we have been made aware that the FDA has taken the samples from the third party importers containers’ for testing the presence of lead and other substances. We have also asked the importers to advise us on the results of the tests”.
Nestle does not import, market or distribute Maggi in the United States. The Maggi products in the stores of the United States are sourced by the retailers through the third parties. The FDA authorities of the US are looking into hygienic condition of the Maggi, specifically of the products which are imported from the Indian Markets through third party retailers, The Times of India reports.
Earlier, Maggi has approached the Bombay High Court in India asking for the judicial review of the ban over Maggi. It has also sort for a stay on the ban over Maggi, to which the High court hasn’t favored.
