Train delays due to rescheduling, diversion and cancellations are most common in North India, especially during this part of the year where fog plays a spoiler delaying the trains due to bad weather. It becomes further complicated when passengers have no clue about their arrival and departure timings with the impact of the bad weather on the punctuality of the train. To solve the problem, online portal and mobile app “RailYatri” has come up with an added feature called ‘fog alerts’ which will alert the users beforehand on the estimated delays in fog affected train routes.
According to the Indian Railways, more than 90 runs of trains between Delhi and Patna were canceled last week due to bad weather fueled by fog. Keeping in view of the growing train delays, RailYatri has launched a new feature which will now provide passengers with details on the possibility of a train delay at a particular station.
Earlier, unexpected train delays caused agony among the passengers who were to connect with a second train as part of the planned journey. Also, it created confusion among the family members who keep waiting at the stations for the safe arrival of their beloved. Putting an end to this, passengers can now make effective use of the RailYatri service by using the fog alerts to make well-planned journeys.
Speaking on the new service launch on RailYatri portal, CEO and Co-founder Manish Rathi said, “The service was aimed at removing the chaos during the journey and provide the passengers with a happy travel experience. We believe that mobile technology, added with our data intelligence has the potential to change the way a passenger reaches his destination. The new fog alerts feature will keep the passengers informed about the estimated delays in real time”.
Apart from this, users can also get other informative services such as PNR search, Train berth availability, Real time train tracking and even order food online via RailYatri mobile app and online portal, the Business Standard reports.
