There is a deal which has been signed by Amazon so as to expand Apple’s product selection on its site universally.
Amazon, which is the largest e-commerce company in the world, on last Friday confirmed that more Apple’s products will be soon availed on its platform, and that the company will be able to directly access new products from Apple.
Such new products include the latest versions or models of iPhone XR, Apple watch series 4, iPad Pro without excluding the Apple’s line-up of Beats headphones.
The Apple-Amazon deal encompasses Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Spain, France and the United States with the new product being available on Amazon sites this week.
On Amazon’s marketplace, only Apple-authorized resellers will be granted the permission to sell Apple and Beats products.
Currently, some of these Apple products can be found on Amazon while some are sold only through the company’s third party marketplaces with the prices varying from one marketplace to another. Already, some of the products such as Beats headphones, and MacBook laptops are directly sold by Amazon.
On Friday, in a statement that was released by Amazon spokesperson, he confirmed that the company is putting more effort in enhancing the customer experience, and one way of achieving this objective by increasing selection of products that are mostly demanded by customers.
“We look forward to expanding our assortment of Apple and Beats products globally”, he added.
With the new deal signed by the two companies, a greater selection of the latest Apple products will be availed for customers at standard prices. In addition, this agreement offers a big win for Amazon as the holiday shopping season is nearing hence availing the company with more electronics from a leading device manufacturer with highly sought-after products. For Apple, this deal could be of a great benefit since it will help the company to sell more of its products worldwide.
Also, the agreement is expected to improve the relationship between these two tech giants, this is after Amazon removed Apple TV video streamer from its site in the year 2015, though the device was brought back last year. At the same time last year, Amazon promised to bring back Google’s Chromecast streamer, but still, this is not available because of the shaky relationship that exists between Amazon and Google.
The Apple’s Spokesman Mr Nick Leahy said that the company is working jointly with Amazon to improve the experience for Apple customers on the ecommerce site.
“We look forward to those customers having another great way to purchase Apple watch, iPad, iPhone, Mac and more products”, added Mr Nick.
According to eMarketer analyst Andrew Lipsman, the timing of the deal is questionable. He also added that Amazon’s weaker than-expected revenue in its recent quarter may have motivated the company as we head towards the holidays.
“Apple is likely to face some risks when it comes to providing sales data to Amazon”, said Andrew.
In his statement, Andrew also cited that the real threat there is with Amazon, for the company is introducing a rival product, hence, Apple is pretty safe there.
