All the iPhones may have a similar resemblance but what lies in them is entirely different from some iPhone 7 versions.
There are some iPhones 7’s that are powered by Intel modem while others operate on Qualcomm modem. This difference has a great impact on the speed at which a given iPhone 7 does tasks like loading your favorite application and sending messages. The Cellular Insights recently published a report in which the body said the iPhone 7 running on Qualcomm were 30 percent faster than their Intel counterparts. Even though only the iPhone Plus were tested, the two modems are also used in iPhone 7.
How to avoid the slower iPhone 7 version
Cellular Insights advices that having Sprint (S), Verizon (VZ) or SIM-free model places you in safer hands.
The other measure you can take is to purchase your iPhone 7 from China, Japan or the United States. It is only in these three countries that you can get the faster Qualcomm.
But again not each iPhone bought in the U.S. runs on the faster modem. iPhones from T-Mobile, AT&T and Telstra include the Intel modem.
How do you tell your iPhone has Intel Model?
You can simply do this by model number. This is printed at the back of your gadget. For Intel modem, you will get either Model A1778 or Model A1784.
However, the Intel modem is slower but not so slow that the users get annoyed. When compared with the iPhone 6S, both the two iPhone 7 versions recorded faster performance.
Cellular Insights is yet to determine why Apple chose to make the two versions.
