In a seemingly stunt-like release, Motorola new phone, known as the P30, has been making rounds online after observations had been made and blatantly copies the concept of the external factors of Apple’s iPhone X, the American company’s leading smartphone in the market.
Reports made by MacRumors.com, a site that is wholly dedicated to anything about Apple and its products, has made an observation on the casing and screen of the Motorola p30, and ha noted major copied concepts.
One of the most prominent commonness between these two phones are the existence of the top notch bar that at the same time handles the camera and the infrared sensor for calls. The only difference is the existence of a noticeable bezel in the Motorola P30, with its company name wholly spelled out.
Another thing most noticed are namely the rear camera placement and placement of the logo. In observation to photographs, the rear cameras of both phone models are placed vertically on the left side of the phone back. Also, the logo placement of the Motorola P30 is the same as Apple’s logo placement. However, the cameras of both models are hugely different to one another. Motorola P30 has only a camera with a sensor, while iPhone X has two cameras for picture enhancement.
Surprisingly, that logo in the Motorola P30 doubles also as a fingerprint scanner. Despite this cool feature, the notch does not feature face recognition algorithms.
Several sites had humorously pointed out the Motorola P30’s similarity to the iPhone X, including tech site magnate The Verge, who reported that reverse search on Google Images had suggested mistakenly the Motorola smartphone for an iPhone X.
Motorola has pointed out in their social media handles the reason why they look like the iPhone X or Huawei‘s P20. They stated that the design is for “good design decisions”, or rather a manifestation to entice the public for this product. Nevertheless, many tech gurus had called out the Motorola P30 as the “most ridiculous iPhone X clone ever made“.
The Motorola P30 is currently available on China, as it has still low hopes to reach to the United States for global marketing. Notable specification of the phone are Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chip, 6GB RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 3,000mAh battery.
Originally an American telecommunications giant, Motorola has gone in the business of creating new smartphones after they have failed in introducing their own version of Motorola tablets with their own ‘Honeycomb’ operating system. It has been then sold first to internet giant Google and later to Chinese electronic giant Lenovo in 2011.
