A Twitter user by name Tanvir Sadiq complained over Reliance Jio’s official Twitter handle that his Reliance Lyf smartphone’s battery has allegedly burst, with his family being lucky of a narrow escape. The user tweeted to Reliance Jio with pictures showing a burnt mobile with LYF branding on it to which the company replied that it would soon get in touch to collect additional details.
When asked about the explosion of a Reliance Lyf smartphone and the possible low-quality standards of the device, the spokesperson for Reliance Lyf said, “We are aware of the complaint and have ordered an investigation into it. We will soon keep you updated about the latest developments. As of now, our technical team believes that the possible cause for the burning down of the battery could be the mishandling of the phone physically. The accurate details will be known only after we receive an investigation report from our concerned team.
“However, we assure you that Reliance devices are manufactured by the best firms in the World and will undergo every quality check before going out for sale. There should not be any doubts on the quality standards of Lyf phones”, he added.
Though the exact details of the product are unknown, from the looks of the smartphone it appears to be Reliance Lyf Water 5, which is powered by a 2920 mAh Li-ion battery.
This is the first such case on Reliance’s Lyf range of devices which has over 30 smartphones under its belt with sub-brands of Flame, Water, Wind, and Earth. The company has recently launched two other smartphones Reliance Lyf F1 and F1 Plus. The Lyf range of smartphones are specially designed to facilitate the addition of non-4G device customers to Reliance Jio’s network.
