There are several reasons why most of the users are so excited about Samsung Galaxy S10. Most notably, users are expecting this new model from Samsung to have ultrasonic in-display reader, 5G option, triple rear cameras, and new gradient colour scheme among other good features.
Even the company itself has bragged a lot about their new brand- S10. But currently, there is another news which is as a very nasty surprise to many users…
According to the information that was leaked by Ice Universe – the industry which can be argued to be top Samsung insider at the moment, there may be no competition between the iPhone’s popular Face- ID enabled system and the Samsung’s Galaxy S10.
In fact, it seems that Samsung is completely giving up on facial recognition system.
In the statement that was issued by the Ice Universe, the iris sensor has been cancelled by the S10. The reason for this is that Samsung has a strong belief that the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is enough to replace the facial recognition system.
In order to justify their statement, Ice Universe further explained that the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that is integrated in Galaxy S10 is improbably any in-display fingerprint reader that has ever been built before. Apart from being faster and time saving, it also has a larger recognition area, with at most 30% of the screen responding to fingerprint of a user.
This is indeed very important. It is not possible to open the in-display readers with a combination of muscle memory and feeling because they have no physical edges.
But this can be changed by the ability to just touch any position at the bottom third of the Samsung Galaxy S10 display to unlock the phone.
Though, this cannot completely replace an iris scanner.
Just like the decision that was made by Apple of scrapping Touch ID on the iPhone and iPad ranges, which left many users with times when using fingerprints to unlock phones would be more convenient, there were several problems that were caused by scrapping the Galaxy S10’s iris such as when putting on gloves.
Just to add, the decision by Samsung to embrace both technologies was a very diverse selling point for Galaxy phones over iPhones. And in the previous report, it was suggested that Samsung was on the threshold of a technological invention which it would have used to match the expected Face ID quality, and now, the company is ashamed for providing owners with less choice.
So, why should Samsung continue with it?
It is believed that the decision is founded on the desire of the company with the aim of giving the Galaxy S10 a virtually bezel-less display. Other Chinese manufacturers such as Vivo, Oppo, Lenovo and Xiaomi have used various design innovations to achieve this.
And the latest financial report from Samsung shows that the company is losing out to its Chinese rivals, in particular, there is a great need for head-on completion in the company.
Either, this is not the only Galaxy S10 compromise.
Users are also expecting Samsung to remove the headphone Jack from the Galaxy S10, for this will enable the phone to accommodate all of the company’s technological innovations. This has already been done by most of its rivals, but there has been receiving a lot of praises for its stubbornness and the company has even been using this as its marketing point.
So, it is true that the Galaxy S10 can be argued to be the most drastic upgrade in the history of Smartphones from Samsung Company. But this S10 model, which is also the 10th-anniversary flagship will is expected to come with several controversial compromises which will be considered as part of the deal.
