North Korea said that it managed to test an engine that is meant to be used on an intercontinental ballistic missile.
The KCNA news agency reported that the new engine type will “guarantee” nuclear strike on the US mainland.
The testing was supervised by the country’s leader, Kim Jong-un at the site for launching long-range missile near west coast.
This new development adds to the series of missile test and missile launches that North Korea has conducted in the recent past.
The state media reported that the “the engine spewed out huge flames with a deafening boom”.
Kim was quoted to have said that the isolated nation will have the ability to “keep any cesspool of evils in the earth including the US mainland within our striking range.”
Mr. Mark Toner, spokesman for US state department, said that N. Korea is supposed to “refrain from actions and rhetoric that further destabilize the region and focus instead on taking concrete steps toward fulfilling its commitments and international obligations.”
Little by little, North Korea is achieving its ambition to establish a missile that can strike the US.
It’s hard to put these claims to test although on Tuesday South Korean government reported that the North has crucially advanced in its ambitions.
There will be a political congress in Pyongyang and Kim is giving out fearsome rhetoric. It will not be a surprise if he actualizes his threat of launching a 5th nuclear test.
