PATNA: Bihar’s Education system has once again came under the scanner with the latest developments in the state. After the Bihar’s School examination Board released the results of its intermediate students, the Times of India has visited various toppers of the examination in different streams in order to take an interview of their achievements. However, the interview video has went viral over the social media as one of the toppers replied, “Political science is the study of cookery”!
The Bihar’s Class XII Arts stream topper Ruby Ray was completely clueless about her subjects and was not even in a state to answer the question on maximum marks. She said “600” only after one of the family members prodded her while talking to a TV Channel.
Ruby Ray has scored 91 out of 100 in political science and has secured 444 marks out of 500 in theory subjects, but was clueless about the subjects in her course and fortunately, she is the topper of Arts stream in Class 12.
In another instance, Science stream topper Saurav Shreshtha, was not in a state to answer simple science questions. He called aluminum an active metal and has no idea on electrons and sodium!.
Following the wide-spread debate over the examinations marks, the Bihar School Examination Board has called for the re-evaluation of top-ranked students. Accordingly, all the 13-students who have topped their respective streams of study will have to attend a short interview cum written test on June 3. The board said strict action will be taken against those who fail the examination.
The Education Minister of Bihar Ashok Choudhary had also confirmed that even the invigilators and examiners would be punished if any discrepancy is found.
Board sources said both Ruby and Saurav were from Vishun Ray College in Vaishali. Even the third topper (science), Rahul Kumar, was from the same college.
