China, arguably the third strongest nation in the world in terms of Economy and army, has decided to focus much on the open seas protection rather than the off shores protection only.
The State council said that it will also strengthen up its cyber force to tackle grave security threats.
China, being greedy in its territorial claims has sparked another controversy in the recent times. The Nation claims unlawfully most of the South China Sea, to which other nations like Philippines oppose. According to Philippines, the international waters are wrongly claimed by the Dragon Nation. China’s recent Navy policy sparked controversy all over the world. More than three countries including Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia claims the international waters which China claims to be theirs.
Economically speaking, the tug of war for the disputed waters is chiefly because of the mineral sources it offers or the petroleum reserves the sea consists of. However, China’s claim seems awkward as it claims the waters nearer to other countries shores.
China’s Strategy document highlights four areas of importance viz,. the Ocean, outer space, Nuclear power and Cyber space. China has begun focusing on strengthening its Navy by spending heavily on weapons and modern vessels, the BBC News reports.
China is also willing to build two light houses in the Spratly Islands, which the Philippines and Vietnamese claims for themselves. Apart from this, china is also building some artificial islands near Spratly. All these sparked higher controversies with the dragon nation.
China also criticized the US spy plane, which flew over the Spratley islands. US too counter attacked reversing China’s allegations. Apart from this, China also had border disputes with India along the Himalayan Ranges. The recent pact of India with Vietnam, over the drilling of oil from the Vietnam claimed South China sea has also sparked a controversy, as China claim it for themselves.
