NEW DELHI: Taking a dig at the Central government on its latest policy, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the decision of demonetization has been a major scam and that all the black money holders in the central government were informed before hand. Mr.Kejriwal questioned on how does the Rs 2000 note curb the black money while adding that the government is testing the common man’s patience with the demonetization move.
“This is a big scam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already informed his team and friends about the demonetization decision and had made it public only after they secured their black money. When the deposits of the banks were negative in the previous quarters, how come that it went positive with large deposits in July-September quarter?. Who did all this money belong to ?. This is a political game played by the Union government to further humiliate the common man, for whom this government never cares for”, Mr.Kejriwal fired.
On the other hand, countering his opposition during an address to the Indians settled in Japan, PM Modi said “This is a well-thought move. The decision was not taken in a fortnight. I and my team were thinking about this ever since we made this decision. We discussed all the inconvenience and the problems we may face because of this decision. But at the end, the result of demonetization is what driven us to move forward. If you want India to be a developed nation, then, I am sure every citizen including the opposition will not criticize this move”.
Earlier, BJP President Amit Shah criticized the opposition party of indirectly supporting the black money holders by expressing objections to the government’s demonetization policy. He further said that the ones who complain are those feared of losing black money.
Reacting to the BJP President’s comment, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “Can your Prime Minister reveal the list of his friends and team to whom he had shared the information of demonetization?. Can you voluntarily conduct an income tax raid on them?. You people say that you are going to bring back the black money. Ok, tell me from where?. Who will have black money?. The Ambanis, Badals, Subhash Chandras or the Cobblers, farmers and rickshaw wallas?. First, you people decide where you are heading to. We asked you for black money in the foreign banks but, you are searching for it in farmer’s hut”.
“How can the Prime Minister say that he and his team had discussed every issue before announcing the demonetization. I will give you an example. During his address to the nation, Mr.Modi said that ATMs will start dispensing cash within 48 hours. Did it happen?. The SBI Bank chairperson said that it will take more than ten days to reconfigure ATMs in order to dispense new Rs 2000 notes. How can the PM miss this simple logic?”, he added.
On the other hand, the long queues before the banks and ATMs have only been increasing day-by-day despite the banks functioning for an extra time. The situation in the rural banks has been even worse, lacking the availability of liquid cash.
