Lashing out at the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Senior lawyer and former Law minister Ram Jethmalani said that the ‘Finance minister was a disgrace to the Modi’s cabinet and that the country will soon see him in prison’.
In his interview to a Marathi TV channel, Jethmalani said, “He is a big disappointment to the Indian government. I have lost all the respect for Narendra Modi, due to his support for Jaitley. That crook will definitely get behind the bars in a few months for involving in DDCA scams”.
Ram Jethmalani was a former law minister under the Vajpayee government, who was later suspended from the BJP citing Anti-party behavior as the cause. Jethmalani alleged that he was removed from the party, only because he protested against the appointment of Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj as the opposition leaders (during the UPA government rule).
He also opined that the Finance Minister has failed to work towards the BJP’s election promise, which promised to bring back Rs 90 lakh crore kept in banks abroad.
On the other hand, FM Arun Jaitley struck down all the allegations against him terming them as ‘baseless’ and ‘inappropriate’.
Jethmalani will defend Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders against a defamation suit filed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Delhi High Court. The next hearing of the case is scheduled on January 6, 2016, the TOI reported.
