NEW DELHI: As per a report sent to the Punjab government by the intelligence Bureau on May 18, sleeper-cells from the terrorist organizations Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Indian Mujahideen (IM) are planning a Pathankot and Gurdaspur-style fidayeen attacks in the Northern parts of India.
Keeping in mind the possibility of another terrorist attack in Punjab, the IB has detailed the state government on the latest situation. The state government has taken the inputs of the report seriously, as it detailed in depth the plannings of the terror outfits.
The report states that the JeM commander Awais Mohammed will be sent to Malaysia, where he will be given a fake passport to enter the Indian subcontinent to carry out attacks. The JeM commander is the resident of Okara in Pakistan and has been tasked with monitoring the fresh strikes in India.
Accordingly, in order to implement its new plans the terrorist organization has started activating the sleeper cells in different parts of India and has been gathering vital information through recce. For the new task, the JeM is considered to have opened at least three new offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab regions of Pakistan. It has also started strengthening its military by conducting recruitment drives and special training sessions at different regions of Pakistan.
More importantly the Intelligence report noted that these terrorist organizations were being funded by the Pakistan spy agency ISI itself. Sources from the Union Home Ministry disclosed that at least 7,844 sleeper cells are currently active in India.
