KASHMIR: The violent protests by Kashmiri youth in connection with the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani has takena new dimension, with mobs snatching weapons from the local security forces. The police intelligence have noted that such incidents have been increasing and predicted that a protesting group has collected as many as 70 guns to to build a arsenal.
According to the sources, a mob has taken away 70 automatic and semi-automatic weapons from a police station in Damhal Hanji Pora, after attacking the Police. Similar incidents have been reported at various parts of Kashmir. Police suspects that a mob is trying to build an arsenal to launch an anti-peace attack.
On Tuesday, two such incidents took place in Anantnag. In one incident a group of protesters have reportedly tried to snatch the guns from two of the army men by hitting them on the head with rods. However, the army men have succeeded in not allowing the mob to flee away with the weapons, an act which could have created dangerous consequences.
An CRPF official said that another incident of similar nature had taken place when the security forces were taking a heart-patient to a nearby hospital. “Such incidents have been increasing in the last three days. They are possibly trying to build an arsenal by collecting the weapons, to attack us. We cannot do much to fight against them, as we were strongly advised to follow peaceful measures”, the CRPF official said.
On the other hand, another issue the intelligence agencies have cautioned is that the terrorist organizations have been using the youth pelting stones at the Police as mask to create unrest in the streets of Kashmir. Police said that the terrorists have been following a tactic which created a dead-lock situation for the security forces to react. The Director general of Police said, “We have noticed that the terrorists are hiding behind the youth pelting stones and attacking the police with hand grenades. The tactic they followed here is a dead-lock for us. They are forcing us to open fire as a part of defense. And if we do that, it is obvious that the youth may lose their lives. Over all, their strategy is to bring more conflicts in Kashmir”.
