The leader of N. Korea, Kim Jong-un, has made claims miniaturized nuclear warheads have been developed by hi scientists and can fit on ballistic missiles.
In the past reports have come from the media saying that nuclear warheads have been miniaturized but Kim directly said this for the first time.
The state that is notoriously secretive said that in January, it detonated a hydrogen bomb. However, experts do not take this to be truthful.
Questions have been raised regarding the ability of the country to be on top of the matters when it comes to nuclear issues.
“The nuclear warhead has been standardized to be fit for ballistic missiles by miniaturizing them,” state media agency KCNA quoted him as saying as he inspected a nuclear facility.
He went ahead to add that we can refer to that as true nuclear deterrent.
KCNA informed that the North leader also made an inspection of nuclear warheads that have been designed to be used in the thermo-nuclear reaction. Hydrogen bomb uses this type.
Tough UN sanctions were imposed on North Korea due to its nuclear test in January and missile launch in February. Experts have brushed off the likelihood of the nuclear test being a hydrogen bomb as claimed by North Korea.
In moves seen as a response to the sanctions, Pyongyang has repeatedly used the media to make belligerent rhetoric.
The new claims form Kim comes barely a week after he asked his country to be ready to utilize its nuclear weapons at a time when threats from its enemies increase.
