Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that there will be a host of measures targeting black money after the December 30, 2016, demonetization deadline to completely wipe out black money while warning that demonetization is not the only weapon for the government. The Prime Minister made the above comments during an interaction with the Indian community in Japan on Saturday.
“Some are of the opinion that there will not be any move from the government after the December 30 deadline. This is not true. I would like to reveal that my government has already planned a number of steps to tackle black money post the deadline for change of old currency notes with the newer ones”, PM Modi said.
“We understand that all the money that women are depositing in the banks are their own savings over the years. My government will work for all the honest people and will not spare any of those dishonest people, accumulating cash in an illegal manner. It is for them to understand that the tax they pay is what that helps in the overall development of the nation. India will forever be a developing nation if we don’t take harsh measures like demonetization”, the PM added.
The Prime Minister admitted that demonetization of high-valued currency has caused hardship to the citizens while adding that such measures are necessary for the overall development of the nation taking in view, the future of the next generation. “Inconvenience will be there for one month. We have thought of all these before making this announcement. This is not an overnight decision and we have put our sincere efforts behind this to make it count. I salute to all those citizens who stand proudly in queues for the development of the nation despite the inconvenience caused”.
The Prime Minister reiterated that he will put as many as possible to work, in order to track down the black money deposited in bank accounts.
