PATNA: Nitish Kumar, the head of the Mahagatbandhan which won the recent Bihar elections had sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the fifth time. The Oath-taking ceremony held at the historic Gandhi Maidan of Patna was attended by a majority of the non-NDA members, for the first time after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India.
Governor of Bihar, Mr Ram Nath Kovind started the proceedings at the Gandhi Maidan by taking the Oath of faith from Mr Nitish Kumar. He was followed by the 28 members of the Nitish’s cabinet.
Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap and younger son Tejaswi Yadav were also taken into the cabinet. Tej Pratap was given in charge of three important ministries, while Tejaswi Yadav was made the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. A fascinating fact reported by the Indian Express, an Indian daily, is that one among every four of the Bihar’s new cabinet is a Yadav.
12 each from the JD(U) and the RJD were taken into the Bihar’s cabinet for being part of the Grand alliance. On the other hand, four members from the Indian National Congress were administered the Oath of office.
Interestingly, Nitish Kumar had kept the Portfolio of Home Ministry with him without allocating it to any of his cabinet members, the Hindu reported.
