NEW DELHI: The demand to sack the External Affairs Minister reached peaks as the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday staged a protest outside the residence of the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. On the other hand the National Congress Party has also demanded for the prosecution Sushma Swaraj. The External Affairs Minister was under scrutiny for helping the former Chairman of the Indian Premier League, Mr. Lalith Modi to acquire his travel documents to the British.
The NSUI activists staged a protest outside the residence of Ms.Sushma Swaraj. The protest has soon transformed into a clash between the Police and the Students, as the Police tried to stop the Protestors outside the residence of the External Affairs Minister from enter into the house. Meanwhile, Congress party has demanded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an explanation over the allegations on his cabinet Minister. The Vice-President of the Indian National Congress Party, Mr.Rahul Gandhi, quizzed the government to explain people of India on what grounds that the External Affairs Minister has recommended a Visa to the corrupt individual, whose Passport was revoked by the Indian authorities in a Corruption case.
According to the sources, Lalith Modi is a relative and one of the close allies of the External Affairs Minister. Based on these grounds, the Minister recommended the latter’s Visa. However, Ms.Sushma Swaraj has denied all the allegations explaining that she has helped Mr.Modi only on “Humanitarian grounds’ to visit his ailing wife in Portugal. Lalith Modi was suspended as the head of the Indian Premier League due to the allegations of corruption, back in 2010.
An NSUI activist urged that the government must order an investigation into the case, following the sacking of the External Affairs Minister with immediate effect, The Huffingtonpost reports.
